Marcella has been with Enka Enyia since 2002. She is a teacher and community leader in Mosocho.

Everyone is involved in the celebrations, including girls aged 13 and over. It is assumed that they have been circumcised. They become mentors to the girls who have not been circumcised. Marcella imparts her knowledge to them. Then she turns to them and asks: “What would you do if you knew your younger sisters were going to be circumcised?” “We’ll pass the knowledge on to our mothers!” Marcella replies: “Pass the knowledge on to your mothers; we’ll help you with that. She should ring us at the Fulda-Mosocho Project office; we’ll visit your parents and speak to them!”

Marcella speaks out, saying that she was so tired of witnessing violence within families. Now, she says, so much has improved: “There is peace within families now.”
